Vallarie Doherty was born on February 21, 1935 and passed away on May 19, 2026 after a long and full life of 91 years.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Doherty. Loving mother of Robert (Carrie) Doherty, Deborah (late Tim) Moats, David (Lisa) Doherty, Timothy (Michelle) Doherty, Susan (Ronald) Pattenaude, Patrick (Paula) Doherty, Jerene (Jeffrey) Koenig, Delisle (Lila) Doherty, Delilah Milne, Faith (James) Danosky, late Catherine (Paul) Schlabach and Christopher Doherty. Also survived by 32 Grandchildren, 56 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her 1 brother and 4 sisters.
Vallarie often spoke fondly of her happy childhood with her parents, Ernest and Josephine. Even as a child, Vallarie experienced sore legs, and her parents lovingly cared for her - rubbing them to ease her pain. Her father would wrap her ankles so she could enjoy skating.
At the young age of 17, she married Delisle Lodico. Tragically, this marriage ended with Delisle's death, leaving Vallarie at just 24 years old to raise her children on her own for several years. In time, she found love again with Robert Doherty, who had three sons. Together, they had one son and raised 12 children under one roof.
After their children were grown, Vallarie and Bob enjoyed several happy years filled with fun and travel. Sadly, Bob passed away in 1996, leaving Vallarie to once again face life's challenges on her own. True to her nature, she proved to be a survivor, continuing to find joy in life despite her losses.
Vallarie was the youngest of six children so after Bob's death she devoted herself to caring for her older siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Over the years, she endured many hardships, including the loss of her youngest daughter Cathy and her third grandson Austin. In her 80's she experienced another type of loss, that of her health and independence. After moving in with her adult children, she found great happiness in her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, making a special effort to stay connected with them.
Vallarie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
