Thomas Sheridan

Born on February 7th, 1924 to the late Thomas J. Sheridan, Sr. and the late Theresa I. Kenyon in Detroit, MI. He was a beloved brother to his older sister, the late Ruth Allen, and younger siblings the late Robert (Shirley J.), Donald (Barbara), and Patricia Wright (Ken). He attended school in River Rouge until the age of 16 and then graduated from the Henry Ford Trade High School in 1942. He worked for a short time at the Ford River Rouge Factory before he joined the US Army in 1943 and became a Sergeant in Company A of the 98th Chemical Mortar Battalion while serving during WWII in the Pacific Region. Upon returning home after the war he married the late Shirley A. Meyer in 1947. They loved to dance and were wonderful on the dance floor. After the birth of their first child Gary T. they moved to Allen Park and became members of the St. Francis Cabrini Parish. The had two more sons Greg D. and Bruce E (Julianna).
Tom worked for Peerless Gauge as a tool and die maker and made parts for the airplane and automotive industries. He was active in the American Legion, various bowling leagues, and golf leagues. Tom retired after over 30 years and became a devoted caretaker to his wife Shirley until her passing in 2007. Tom was a loving grandpa to his granddaughter Christine of Butzbach Germany and Great grandpa to her son Colin. To Granddaughters Samantha and Hannah of Allen Park, he was a part of their daily life and always attended their sporting/school events and was called simply Grandpa by many of their friends and teammates. Tom will be missed greatly and will always serve as an example of devotion and caring to his family. Visitation Monday 1 - 8 pm at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Ave., Allen Park, MI 48101. Downriver Veterans Honor Guard Service Monday Evening at 7 pm. Funeral Service Tuesday 11 am at the Funeral Home. Interment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
