Great grandfather of Henry Rudd. Dear brother of Beverly Doane, Marilyn Stettler and the late Carol Siladi. Brother-in-law of Joan Bigelow and Donna Hanna. Tom’s family moved from Delta, Ohio to the Detroit area when he was only 2 years old. He attended Melvindale High School where he met his future wife, Judy. He went to the University of MI on a football scholarship majoring in Mechanical Engineering, later transferring to the Dearborn Campus and graduating in 1964. Fresh out of college, he accepted a job with Eaton Corporation where he remained until retirement in 2002. Tom and Judy moved their family to Allen Park in 1965. In the early 70’s, he began building their cottage on Silver Lake in Wolverine MI where they spent weekends and summers, eventually making it their home. Tom also served as president of the Silver Lake Homeowner’s Association for 30 years.
Tom was a man of many talents. In addition to being a builder, he loved working on cars and built a dune buggy in 1968 which he enjoyed driving for his whole life. But Tom’s pride and joy were his children and grandchildren who he showered with his attention and homemade gifts, including a log cabin he built for them on his Wolverine property, and multiple handmade toys. Tom was a true craftsman and a strong presence to all that met him. He will forever be greatly missed in the hearts of his family and friends.
