Rosaline "Rosie" Campagna

March 27, 1938 — October 24, 2021

Rosaline M. Campagna 1938- 2021

Rosaline (Rosie) Campagna, entered life March 27, 1938.

Born to Regina Campagna (Dorigo) and Galiano Campagna. Sister to Gerald Campagna (Barbara), Guido Campagna (Eileen) and Elsa McQuithey (Campagna). Aunt to Eric (deceased), Scott and Kirk McQuithey and Christina Campagna.

Rosie graduated from Allen Park High School in 1956. Starting at the age of 15, she worked part time at Laura Italian provision store in Oakwood until she turned 18. In 1956 (at 18) she started a secretarial career at Detroit Steel which lasted 34 years and retired in 1990. Her last position was in Human Resources. Within six months of retirement she went to work for Greenfield Village in Human Resources and remained there until 1993. She left Greenfield Village and went to work for Arbor Hospice in Allen Park and retired in 2003. During her time at Arbor Hospice she had the opportunity to volunteer in Haiti and went there with a medical team 3 times.

During her life, Rosie enjoyed traveling throughout the world. She went to England 3 times, Italy 2 times including singing for the Pope with St. Francis Cabrini choir, Russia, Japan, Singapore , Cambodia, Hong Kong, Island of Macao, South Korea, Brazil and in Peru hiked to famous Machu Picchu at 8,000 feet, the Holy Land (Israel) and many times to Canada to visit cousins in Toronto. One time, when she needed a required vaccine before traveling overseas, she went to see Doctor Iacobellis and he bluntly told her “why can’t you just stay home like all other young women”. In 1967 went to Montreal for the World Fair and also had the courage to raft down the Snake River in Idaho/Wyoming.

Throughout her life, Rosie was always a very positive person. She was a very good story teller and made you constantly laugh. She was an extremely giving person, sometimes to a fault. She was a devout Catholic and sang for St. Francis Cabrini choir for 30 plus years.

She was an avid bowler mostly at Oakwood Blue Jackets, was extremely witty, always smiling and kind to everyone. She loved heated discussions and debates about our Country’s problems and challenges and was never afraid to speak her mind. Before macular degeneration she was an avid reader especially American history. Loved playing all kind of board games and was very good at it.

With her many friends, she enjoyed going to the Fisher theater, the Stratford theater in Ontario Canada to see musicals, plays and enjoyed listening to classical music. She really enjoyed going out to eat at all kinds of different restaurants. Eating good food was a delightful part of her life.
