Robert "Bob" Carter passed away August 1st, 2024 due to a sudden illness at the age of 73. Beloved father of Jason (Melissa) Carter and Robert G. Carter. Loving grandfather of Sable (Rafe) Olson, Chelsea (Leo) Rodriguez, Grace Carter, Jason M. Carter and Collin Carter. Great grandfather of Liam, Brieannon, Everly and Jayce. Dearest brother of Barbara Carter and Suzanne (Rick) Marschner. Dear uncle of Dan Marschner and Jason Marschner.
He was born in 1951, in Detroit, MI to his parents George and Margaret (Pitt) Carter. Both preceded him in death.
While growing up in a suburb of Detroit, Allen Park, he was a neighborhood kid who loved the Davy Crockett persona (coonskin cap, frontier clothes and a rifle), playing ball with the other kids, and otherwise enjoyed being a kid. He loved the fast cars and his 69 Roadrunner... he graduated from Allen Park High in 1969.
He joined the U.S. Army after high-school during the Vietnam War...protecting our homeland as an Air Defense Fire Control Crewman with the 2nd Bn, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment (Nike Herc Missles). He also had the distinction of being commended by Brigadier General David Sudderth while serving on the Honor Guard for the 31st Artillery Brigade Honor Guard (det) for outstanding and flawless services rendered.
After the service, Bob came back home to Allen Park, MI starting a 50 year career in logistics and warehousing with securing employment with Montgomery Wards. Then moving to Mitsubishi Electronics of America, and finishing at Tachi-S Engineering with his retirement from working in 2022.
Bob loved the outdoors and spending time up north. He spent many summers with his aunt and uncle in Farwell. He eventually recognized and achieved his dream of owning a home in the northern lower peninsula Roscommon area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing though the fish always eluded him. He got to the point where the deer became pets, feeding them, and he put away the hunting rifle.
He maintained a residence in the downriver area of Brownstown to stay close to his two sons, Jason and Bobby and the family. He would visit his sisters and sons during weekends and anytime he got the itch to. Nothing gave him more joy than to spend time with his sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
You will certainly and forever be loved and missed Mr. Buddy!
