Robert D. Brooks

Age 82. Beloved Husband of Vivian (Johnson), Loving Father of Diane and David (Kerry) Brooks. Dear Brother of Dr. Herbert (Cynthia) Brooks and the late Ken (Lois) Brooks. Grandfather of Sydney and Brendan Brooks. Raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Class of 1949. Served in U.S. Air Force 1951-1955, Graduated from Detroit Institute of Technology in 1962 with Bachelor of Business Management degree. Worked at Ford Motor Company, Steel Sales Corp & Trailmobile, and Alexander Proudfoot Management Company prior to buying a party store (renamed Brooks Party Store) in Allen Park in 1974. Bob owned the business until 1992, during which time he sponsored several local sports teams in youth ice hockey and baseball as well as adult softball. Bob was also very active in several organizations including being elected to the Charter Board of Directors of the Allen Park Downtown Development Authority (D.D.A) for over 10 years. Served two years as President of the A.P. Hockey Association, two years as President of the A.P. Umpires Association, served on the Board of Directors of the A.P. Chamber of Commerce for 24 years, including being a driving force in many of the largest Chamber Golf Outing fundraisers, Chairman of the A.P. Parks & Recreation Foundation for two years and awarded Honorary Junior Chamber International (Jaycees) Senator in 1968.

Visitation 3-8pm Sunday. Funeral Service 7:30 pm Sunday at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park (313-382-1150). Memorial Contributions to Angela Hospice or to the Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated.
