Age 72, died peacefully, June 21, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dearly loved father of Eileen (Justin) Housley and preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy, and parents Mona and Daniel Sinnott. Richard is survived by his treasured grandchild Kathy Housley; his sisters Pat (Jim) Henneberry, Sister Maureen; brothers, Daniel (Judy), Michael (Judy), Patrick and Tim; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was a dedicated Allen Park Fireman with an intense sense of community. He battled his illness with the same indefatigable valor with which he fought the fires of his city. He took great pride in his work, and we slept safely on his watch. Richard's greatest source of pleasure was his daughter and her family. Surrounded in their love and warmth he was able to go on after the death of his beloved wife, Kathy. Richard was a spiritual man and his parents were founding members of St. Frances Cabrini parish. He was a proud Knights of Columbus member and very active in the Order of Alhambra, a Fraternal Order of Catholic men dedicated to assisting persons developmentally and mentally disabled. He would dress as a clown to the delight of children stricken with serious illness then just as quickly direct his attention towards the needs of our geriatric citizens. He projected a rough exterior to disguise a heart as soft and warm as the finest gold, and if he called you friend, you required little else for companionship. Richard Sinnott will be sincerely missed far beyond the tears of his grieving family; for he possessed a goodness that was felt by all whom he touched and all places he traveled. Visitation will be Sunday, June 24, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Ave., Allen Park (313) 382-1150. Robert Jones K of C rosary Sunday 7:00 p.m. In State Monday 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini, 9000 Laurence at Wick, until time of Mass 10:30 a.m. Memorial gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society.
