Richard Frank Macek

August 10, 1930 — December 4, 2025

Richard Frank Macek, age 95, passed away at home on December 4, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Cecilia. Loving father of his children Ken (Donna), Rich (Barb) and Kathie Ling.

He is survived by his grandchildren Kris (Sara), Steve, Kevin (Casey), Kimmy, Andy, Jessica, Amanda, and Jenna; and his great-grandchildren Hadley, Matilda, Kamden, and Grayson. He is predeceased by his brother Jim.

Richard was born in Detroit, MI to Frank and Frances on August 10, 1930. He graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit. He married his high school sweetheart Cecilia on April 7, 1951. He attended college until he was drafted into the Army in 1952, serving overseas during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, he first worked as a butcher at A&P, and was promoted to meat department manager. He spent most of his career at Ford Motor Company as a Spec Analyst in the Body Engineering Department until retiring in 1995.

Throughout his life, he loved sports. In high school he was an all-star baseball player (pitcher), and an all-star swimmer. Richard pitched several no hitters and often left other swimmers in his wake as he made it first to the finish line. He played organized softball, was an avid bowler, and golfed whenever he could find the time. He loved watching sports and was an avid Detroit Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, and Lions fan. He also loved westerns and the Game Show Network.

Richard and Cecilia loved taking trips with friends, playing pinocle, and dancing the polka at weddings, parties, and church festivals. They were also active parishioners at St. Stephen Parish (Detroit) and later became members of Our Lady of Angels Church (Taylor).

Richard and Cecilia loved spending time with their grandchildren and joined in on many family vacations.

Richard was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Romanowski Post, Knights of Columbus and Polish Roman Catholic Union of America. He was a very generous man and volunteered when time permitted.
