Patricia Ellen Devine

Patricia Ellen Devine (née Dennisuk) was born on June 22, 1955 to Adam and Theresa Dennisuk, the third of six children. She is survived by her companion, Steve Szatkowski, and her step daughter, Meaghan (Noah) Brandon. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Michael (Debra) Dennisuk, William Dennisuk, Mary Dennisuk, Anne Armelagos and Robert (Michele) Dennisuk, as well as her nieces and nephews, Marisa (Greg) Souldourian, Erin (Wes) Scarlett, Matthew Armelagos, Caitlin (Brennan) Quenneville and Lauren (Matthew) Westerfield. Patricia passed away on January 23rd, 2021 at the age of 65.

Patricia was known to her friends and family as Trish, or Aunt Trisha, and she spent her life in service of those she loved. She was always generous with that love. Through her long career as a nurse, Trish shared her kindness with countless patients, focusing her attention on children with special needs. In 2003, Trish was awarded the Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence in honor of her continued efforts in the field. When Trish saw someone in need of help, she gave it. Upon noticing that there was no sufficiently safe space in her community for children whose parents were struggling with addiction and substance abuse, Trish founded Kool Kids Camp as a place of support for those children.

She was a doting caregiver in the truest sense, an endless font of joy and compassion for all those who came within her reach. She wanted nothing more than to have fun with her friends and family, at restaurants, festivals, concerts and ball games. Frequent weekends and vacations were spent on Girls’ Weekends, traveling with her many lifelong friends to beloved destinations up north. Back home, Trish was a second mother to many, a source of inspiration and guidance, a confidant and teacher. She also just really, really loved dogs. Trish’s enthusiasm for life was contagious and that too survives her, because though she is not here with us, we will never lose her.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 29th from 9:30am until the time of Mass at 10:00am. Services will be held at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish at St. Joseph Church, 344 Elm, Wyandotte, MI 48192 . We ask that all attendees wear a mask. For those unable to attend in person, Trish’s service can be joined via livestream at www.stvpp.org .
