Nick Beasanski

Nicholas (Nick) Allen Beasanski, 75, of Trenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 26 surrounded by several of his close friends.

Nick spent his life in love with music and theatre and had a passionate vocation as a singer, music director and director for over 50 years. An admirer of St. Nicholas with a shape and spirit reminiscent of the famed personage (and a collector of Santas, St. Nicholas figures and all things Christmas), he was known for his unflagging commitment to music as a director of choirs and music ministry for Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Grosse Ile and St. Frances Cabrini Church in Allen Park. He also served as a director for the Cabrini High School theatre troupe.

Perhaps most notably, Nick graced the stages of Downriver theatres in roles including Tevye in “A Fiddler on the Roof”, Charlie Anderson in “Shenandoah”, both Richard Henry Lee and Edward Rutledge in productions of “1776”, and Mr. Van Daan in “The Diary of Anne Frank” among countless others.

Nick is survived by his brother Ron (Marsha), many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends and colleagues who had the joy of knowing and often working with him in theatre.

He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary Beasanski, and his sister, Audrey Smith.

Nick was a steadfast and loyal friend, a kind person with a wicked sense of humor, and an inspiring music ambassador. The world is a lesser place without him and his loss will be deeply felt.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6 from 2 pm until 8 pm with 7pm Scripture Service at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park (313-382-1150). A Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Allen Park at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 7 (in state at 9:30 am in the church). A luncheon will follow TBA.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the community theatre of your choice.

Interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery will follow at a later date.
