Nancy L. (Smoots) Orr, age 85, of Trenton, MI, found her seat at her Lord’s Table when she passed away on February 24, 2022, while being held in the love of her family.
Nancy was born on September, 19, 1936 to Richard and Mary Eunice Smoots, of Riverview, MI, who proceed her in death. Nancy was one of seven children and is survived by her younger brother, Michael Smoots, of Overland Park, KS.
Nancy married Kenneth C. Orr, of Lincoln Park, MI, on February 2, 1958. The couple settled in Lincoln Park and had four children. There they worked to build a life of adventure, love, and happiness. Nancy lived her life as a committed wife and mother. She was able to manage the hardest of situations with grace and tact and always adapted any situation to meet her families needs. Relationships were of utmost importance and her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren felt the fierceness of her love in every interaction. Her devotion to her friends and family permeated throughout her life. Later in her lifetime, she developed a new interest in the Detroit Tigers. She instantly became their biggest fan, watching, cheering them on, and attending in person games in both Michigan and Florida. Nancy, a skilled seamstress, worked for years outside of the home and was known for her spreading her love making clothes, blankets, cross stitch items for everyone. Nancy was a humble and devoted servant of God. Her faith was strong and she planted a love of Jesus in all her children. Nancy and Ken spent many years enjoying their second home on Mack Lake in Mio, MI. They also traveled for years throughout the country in their motor home. The two had many wonderful stories to share with their children upon return. Kenneth proceeded Nancy in death when he passed away in 2003; he has now been reunited with his Bride.
Nancy is survived by her children; Kenneth (Paula) Orr, Michelle (Greg) Cooley, Laurie (Joe) Drivinski, and Renee (James) Orr Carr. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; Hailey (Shane) DeAngelis, Kenny (Kelsey) Orr, Gregory Cooley, Jade (Lance) Latkiewicz, Maureen McComb, Bill Drivinski, Kelsey Drivinski, McKenna Carr, Olivia Carr, Lilya Carr, Sifa Carr, and Fabrice Carr. Nancy also lived as a proud and-oh so loving-GiGi to her 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation 1:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, February 28 with 6:30pm Rosary at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Avenue, Allen Park.
Funeral service 10:30am Tuesday, March 1 (In state from 10:00am) at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 32477 Church, Rockwood.
Interment Michigan Memorial Park.
