Michael Miller

Michael Thomas Miller, RN, BSN, of Lincoln Park, MI, passed away at home on December 2, 2020, at the age of 61. Mike was born February 22, 1959 in Lincoln Park, MI. He attended St. Frances Cabrini High School in Allen Park, MI, and went on to graduate from Wayne State University.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife Sharon St. Jean Rose Miller and her daughters Erica (Adam) Frose of Phoenix, AZ, and Allie Rose of Okemos, MI; his mother Carolyn Miller of Lincoln Park, MI; and his younger siblings Julie (Dennis) Rodriguez, Gary (Teddi) Miller, and Todd (Berta) Miller. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter Jessica Michelle Rose and by his father Thomas Miller.

Mike had a kind and generous heart, which was especially evident in his career as a nurse. He was recognized with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses while serving as Nursing Supervisor at Oakwood Heritage Hospital in Taylor, MI. Just a few examples of his compassionate care: he brought in a homemade birthday cake to cheer a patient on her 91 ^st birthday, he spent many days off visiting with patients who had no family there to support them, and he even accompanied one patient to his granddaughter’s wedding. He especially cherished his annual visits dressed as Santa Claus to distribute candy canes to children in the hospital.

Mike was always going out of his way to bring smiles to others, and to help those less fortunate than himself. He was much loved by family and friends, and he enjoyed boating and camping, his favorite band the Grateful Dead, scuba diving in Key West and around shipwrecks in the Upper Michigan waterways, and feeding the birds in his backyard at home.

Mike will be laid to rest at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park, MI. His life will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 9000 Laurence Ave, Allen Park, MI, at a later date to be announced.
