Cover for Melissa A. Feher-Doty's Obituary

Melissa A. Feher-Doty

Feb 26, 1970 — Apr 19, 2026

With profound sadness, I share that my beautiful wife of 35 years has passed away at the age of 56. There are no words that can truly capture how unfair this feels, or explain why she was taken after facing so much—first a debilitating illness at 36, and most recently, cancer. She carried more than her share, and she did so with a quiet strength that never stopped showing through. Melissa was the most beautiful person I have ever known, both inside and out. She had a gentle, kind soul and a warmth that made people feel seen, comforted, and cared for. She had a way of bringing calm and love into the lives of those around her, simply by being who she was. She loved our four children with everything she had. They were her world, and she gave them her heart, her time, and her unwavering support. So much of who they are today is a reflection of her love, her guidance, and the example she set every single day. Melissa also had a deep compassion for all living things—especially rabbits, dogs, cats, and every furry creature that crossed her path. She saw something special in them, and they seemed to sense the kindness in her right away. Caring for others, in every form, was simply part of her nature. Even through the hardest times, she continued to show love, patience, and resilience. That is how I will always remember her—not defined by her illness, but by her strength, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed in ways that words can’t fully express, but she will never be forgotten. Melissa lives on in my heart, and in the lives, memories, and love of our four incredible children. Her presence, her spirit, and her love and spirit will always be with us.

I'd like to share where we would like donations sent. Rather than flowers for her celebration of life, she would love it if people could consider donating to The Midwest Rabbit Rescue, https://rb.gy/zpesvd for lung cancer research or https://gofund.me/6a78a9e9e

My mom loved her bunnies so much. Ever since I was 7, mom has helped me raise 9 rabbits. I recently got my new friend Harry, and unfortunately, I wasn't able to introduce him to her before she passed. I know she would have loved him so much.

Thank you all.

Melissa is the Beloved wife of Scott. Loving mother of David, Jack, Jillian and Megan Doty. Dear sister of Sherie (Dale) Quinton and the late Joseph Feher.

To honor Melissa's request, cremation will take place.
