Lyman C. Perry was called from labor to rest by his Heavenly Father on April 2, 2009. He is survived by his son-in-law James Handy and his wife JoAnne, and five grandchildren; Tracy Vasquez, Fidel Garcia, Jose Garcia, Susan Keel, and Rebecca Handy, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Emma, and his two daughters, Oneita and Rosalie. Lyman served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed on Okinawa and retired from GM in 1978 after a forty-year career. In retirement his major interests were traveling and music. He was associated with the Allen Park Symphony for 22 years and served as its President in 1966. He enjoyed playing the violin, the viola, and the harmonica, For several years he had a weekly chamber music group play in his home and many neighbors and friends enjoyed the music.
Lyman is a life member of VFW Post 552. He was a 50+ member of Trenton-Wyandotte Lodge No. 8 F. & AM; a member of Trenton Chapter No. 173 RAM, Moslem Temple AAONMS of Detroit; Detroit Commandery No. 001 Knights Templar, Detroit; Monroe Council No. 1, R & SM, Detroit; Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Detroit; several other Masonic organizations; and SPAH.
Funeral service Thursday 11 am at the Weise Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday 5 - 8 pm. Masonic Service Wednesday 6:00 pm. Interment Woodmere Cemetery.
