LILLIAN MAE WOOFENDEN, age 96, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Maple Ridge Farms Assisted Living in Hudson, Michigan. She was born on January 25, 1926, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ira and Mae Bogue. She is the loving mother of Joan (Dale) Schmeltz, grandmother of Brenda Schmeltz, Dale Schmeltz, and Jeffrey Schmeltz. She is great-grandmother of Michael Schmeltz. Also surviving is her dear sister, Arlene Harris and her sister-in-law, Darilyn Bogue. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Bogue and Francis "Buddy" Bogue, sisters, Helen (Mack) Foster and Barbara (Donald) Fedon and brother-in-law, William Harris. Lillian grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan and then attended nursing school. After graduating nursing school in 1947, her career took her to Harper Hospital and then Chrysler before retirement in 1985. Lillian started her family in Southgate, then moved to Romulus for ten years. While living in Romulus, she loved to entertain and began square dancing with local groups. With travel trailer in tow, she toured our nation's national parks while attending countless regional and national square-dancing conventions. In 1986 Lillian moved to her dream home in Port Charlotte, Florida, where she continued to entertain friends and family for 30 years while enjoying the south Florida lifestyle. She was active with her church where she put her sewing skills to work while participating in many charity events. She also enjoyed attending big band concerts and was a long-time fan of André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. Lil enjoyed telling friends that she and Queen Elizabeth shared the same birth year, and they also shared a love for their favorite fingernail polish, Ballet Slippers. Five years ago, Lil relocated back to Michigan to enjoy time with her family.
