Kenneth James Palmer
July 13, 1950 – December 8, 2019
Ken passed away peacefully after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
He was devoted to his family, and was a cherished regular at every Hatley Family Reunion, starting with the first one in 1984, and at local holidays and get-togethers.
Ken was the beloved son of Mattie Lou (Hatley) Palmer and James Palmer (deceased). He will be dearly missed by his sisters Karen Palmer and Kathryn (Jim) Carey, and nephews Seamus Carey and Conor Carey.
He will also be deeply missed by his wife Pat, and her family, who consider themselves lucky to have enjoyed so many years of summer cook-outs, Halloweens, Christmas traditions, and New Year’s midnight pot-bangings with him.
Ken loved dogs, nature, good meals, and good books and was himself an excellent cook and story-teller. He was intelligent, sharp-witted, practical, and humorous. How grand it was to know him.
Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to The Michigan Medicine Office of Development in Ken’s name in support of immunotherapy research, or Arbor Hospice, or any charity of your choice.
