Julie Elizabeth Black of Allen Park passed away on July 10th, 2025.

Julie was born on August 30th, 1966 in Detroit, MI. Julie graduated from Woodhaven High School in 1984 where she was proud to be the homecoming queen. She went on to study elementary education at Eastern Michigan University.

After graduating with a degree in teaching, she started her career with Woodhaven Brownstown School District, where she taught for 35 years.

In 1989, Julie married the love of her life, James Black. Julie and Jim went on to have two beautiful children, Andrew and Kate Black.

Julie was happiest spending time with her family entertaining at her home, up north on Drummond Island, and at her parent's farm in Turner, MI . She was a talented home decorator and had an eye for detail. She loved to spend time tending to her yard and flower gardens. She had a passion for teaching and educating children. Her warm heart was felt by all.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents David and Judith Stefanic, beloved daughter Kate Elizabeth Black, mother-in-law Joyce Black, and brother-in-law Jonathon Black.

She is survived by her husband James Black, son Andrew Black (Stephanie Polsgrove), Michael Girard, sister Jennifer Dmitruchina (Matt Dmitruchina), brother David Stefanic, Father-in-law Gerald Black Jr., brother-in-law Jeff Black (Laurie Black) and nieces and nephews Mitchell, Matthew, Mae, Tyler, Chelsea, and Brooke.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kate Black Scholarship at Cabrini Catholic Schools or the Kate Elizabeth Black '20 Educational Scholarship at Central Michigan University.

Visitation for Julie will be from 1:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, July 14 at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park (313-382-1150).

Funeral Mass 10:00am Tuesday, July 15 (In state from 9:30am) at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 9000 Laurence (at Wick), Allen Park.

Cremation will take place following the funeral mass on Tuesday.  Inurnment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
