John Wallace Brennman, loving father, grandfather and brother, passed away suddenly on January 24th at the age of 77 at his home in Southgate, Michigan.
He was born on March 28, 1938 in Allen County, Ohio to Wallace and Ruth Brenneman, and grew up in Lima, OH. He attended Lima High School and later, Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a member of the Kalamazoo men’s tennis team, and during his four years at the college, the Hornets won four consecutive league titles. While at Kalamazoo, John met the love of his life, Judith Ann Hallock. They were wed on October 1, 1960 and were happily married for over 53 years.
He is survived by his three children Lisa (Marc) Voskeritichian, Sandy (Kelvin) Rosonke and Rich Brenneman, his sister Elizabeth Blanchard, and his grandchildren Kate (Steve) Hibbs, Matthew, Rachel and Jennifer Rosonke, and Sean Brenneman, many nieces and nephews, and his companion of the last year, Louanne Brazier.
John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, traveling, making stained glass artwork, meeting friends for lunch and remaining active in his local knife club. Tennis remained a passion for John throughout his life. He coached countless high school and college players over the years, and each August, he would travel to Kalamazoo College to assist with the administration of the Boys National Tennis Tournament.
A memorial service will be held at Allen Park Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 5 at 1 pm. A reception will be held afterward in the church parlor.
