Former Allen Park MI resident Jeannette Vermette LaCelle, 103, died peacefully on Feb 04, 2014, in Issaquah, WA. At her request, no service will be held. Jeannette was born August 22, 1910, near Montreal, Canada to Edgar Vermette and Leatine LaPieree, and had 10 brothers and sisters. She moved to the US in 1928 where she soon met and married fellow Canadian, Romeo LaCelle. They moved to Dearborn MI where Jeannette was a homemaker. After moving to Allen Park, she began art classes in 1980, then graduated from high school and studied art for many years at Wayne County Community College, was a member of the Downriver Arts and Crafts Guild, and proud of her many exhibited paintings and awards. For 20 years, she sent out almost 100 hand painted Christmas cards, stopping only in 2012. Jeannette loved life, family and friends, and danced on her 103rd birthday. She is preceded in death by her husband Romeo, and daughter, Lilliane LaCelle Toutant. Survivors include her son, LeRoy LaCelle of Issaquah WA, grandchildren Renee Berthiaume, Paulette Toutant, Michelle Ryan, Yvonne Sanders, Jackie Toutant, and Denise Hughes. She also has 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
