Jean Gettemy

Age 97, March 19, 2021.  Beloved wife of Dean.  Loving mother of Nancy (George) Broomell, Barbara Gettemy and Dean Gettemy.  Dearest grandmother of Chris Broomell and Tracy (John McKenzie) Broomell.

Loving wife to Dean for 70 years and a devoted mother and adoring grandmother. Jean earned her RN degree from Saint Joe’s Pontiac Nursing School and worked at Allen Park VA hospital for many years in the operating room. Jean was active in the Allen Park United Presbyterian Church: teaching Sunday school, active in Rebecca’s Circle, the women’s ushering team, nitwits knitting group, past women’s association president, mission sewing group, helping with monthly mailing of Allen Park Presbyterian Church newsletter, enjoyed the Merrimates, the bucket club and trips to camp  Wakanda. Jean volunteered at Greenfield Village costume department for many years. She was an avid traveler both foreign and domestic, as well as a cruise enthusiast. She especially enjoyed her family and friends, and her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, reading and knitting. One of her favorite expressions was the first hundred years are the hardest. Her friends told her there was a special place in heaven for her.

Cremation Services were chosen.
