Georgia Lee (Newsome) Compton

Age 85. Went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 30, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Bobby. Loving mother to Denise (Wayne) Batson. Dearest Mamaw to Ryan (Sarah) Batson, Kristen (John) Horn, and Katherine (Erick) Nicholson. Great Grandmother to Wyatt, Natalie and Davis Batson; LJ Horn; Miles, Tegan and Rezor Nicholson. Sister to Lou Roberts of Sevierville, TN. Preceded in death by her sisters Nanna Lou Newsome and Fayetta Blair.

Georgia was born in JoNancy, Kentucky on July 25, 1935 to Oley and Mary Newsome. She married Bobby Kenneth Compton after he returned from the Korean War in 1953. They moved to Michigan and lived in various cities in Downriver during their marriage. Her daughter Carlotta Denise was born in 1955. Georgia was a meticulous homemaker, excellent Southern cook and particular about her appearance. She was a school crossing guard for Lincoln Park Schools for 44 years, retiring just a few years ago. Georgia loved to attend church and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Taylor.

Visitation Monday 12 noon until time of Funeral Service 1:00pm at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Avenue, Allen Park, MI  48101.
