Frank Edwin Marcum

March 11, 1940 – November 23, 2021

Frank was born in Wyandotte, Michigan to Frank John Marcum and Beatrice Norma Marcum, nee Becker. He grew up in Trenton, Michigan with his sister Sherry and graduated from Trenton High School in 1958. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Detroit Institute of Technology in 1973 all while raising three children and working for Detroit Edison, where he worked for 35 years, as a Senior Engineer and Systems Analyst. He also taught programming languages and system analysis and design at Lawrence Technical University as adjunct faculty member. In addition, he was the president of Smart Computer Services. In 2002, he served as Director of Continuing Education and Professional Development. In 2009, was awarded Lawrence Tech’s Volunteer of the year which was recognized by the Greater Detroit chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Named after his beloved wife, he founded the Mary Ann Marcum Customer Service Award and the Mary Ann Marcum Endowed Scholarship, (now known as the Frank and Mary Ann Marcum Endowed Scholarship, benefitting both the staff and students of Lawrence Technical University. Frank is survived by his sister Sherry Cunningham, children Frank Marcum, Amy Hawes, Laura Marcum, Step-children Brook Hurd, Brittany Santos, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He will be missed!
