passed away on August 28, 2013 after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Ed lived and was cared for at the Presbyterian Village of Redford. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired supervisor of the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department, and spent many enjoyable years with his lovely wife Evelyn (Smith), deceased, traveling in their Airstream trailer to rallies in Michigan and throughout the United States. He is predeceased by a sister, Theodosia Gunsher, and niece Theresa Purzes, both of Hanover Township, PA, where Ed was born, as well as first cousins, Richard Olszewski and Sophie Bienias. Ed enjoyed loving relationships with surviving cousins Theresa (Olshefski) Lundy and Francis Olszewski, niece Kelly Olszewski-Hertel and her children, Ryan and Matthew, and nephew, Michael Olszewski. Ed also shared life with his wife’s loving relatives, nephew Allen Ross and his children, Scott, Stacy, Craig, & Carrie, nephew Rick Ross and his children, Jennifer & Michelle, niece Carolyn Cook, and nephew, William Cook … along with respective spouses. Visitation 5-8pm Monday with 5:30pm Scripture Service and 6:30pm Downriver Veterans Honor Guard Service at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park (313-382-1150). Funeral Service 10:00am Tuesday (In state from 9:30am) at St. Henry Church, 1358 Council, Lincoln Park. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
