Douglas L. Arvin

April 6, 1944 — June 26, 2024

Douglas Lee Arvin (80) of Allen Park Michigan (previously Wyandotte, Michigan) passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024.

Doug was born on April 6, 1944, to parents Dorothy and Lee Arvin of Grosse Ile, Michigan.  After graduating from Grosse Ile High School, he went on to become a successful Design Engineer and business owner.

Doug was the proud parent of four: Joy Arvin-Simpson (Jerry Egan), Kimberleigh Pozdol (Daniel), Angelique Tomsic (Patrick), and Ryan Arvin.

After retirement Doug spent his time being his grandchildren’s biggest fan at all their activities and enjoyed every minute of being their Papa! Even during his struggles with Dementia, Doug always knew and loved his grandchildren and was very excited to get to see them grow and discover their own paths. Through the years, Doug enjoyed being outdoors, boating, and his yearly walk across the Mackinaw Bridge.

Doug is survived by his three daughters, six grandchildren (Kenneth, Morgan, Reagan, Owen, Gavin, and Connor), one great-grandchild (Noah), five siblings and many nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved. Doug was predeceased in life by his parents, two siblings and his son Ryan.

For the past decade, Doug has fought Dementia without ever losing his sarcastic sense of humor and charm.  The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Optalis Health and Rehabilitation of Allen Park.

The family will be hosting a private funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to honor Doug: Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease
