Age 87; of Riverview, MI; passed away Monday, July 22, at Resthaven Care Center in Holland, MI. Dorothy (Dot) was born August 28, 1936, in Gary, IN, to John C. and Mary L. (Young) Morrison. Her family had moved to Gary from West Virginia shortly before she was born. She married Nevin Webster on September 8, 1956, in Gary while he was a student at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI. After seminary, they moved to Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where Nevin served as an Army chaplain. They later served churches in Coxsackie, NY; Hawthorne, NJ; Denver, CO; and Allen Park, MI. In the late 1970’s when Nevin developed a health concern, Dot left her full-time role as mom and homemaker, polished off her secretarial skills, and worked for Olivetti and many years for Arthur Andersen until retirement.
Dot loved her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, her family, and the churches with whom she worshipped and served, including many years at First Presbyterian Church in Trenton, MI, as an active member in the Lydia Circle. She greatly enjoyed music and singing in the church choir, as well as cooking and baking, being famous in her family for her lasagna and “Chocolate Dessert.” Doing word puzzles and watching the Detroit Tigers and Denver Broncos on TV were favorite pastimes. Traveling with Nevin was one of her joys, including trips to the Holy Land, Hawaii, and Bolivia, as well as two long cross-country mission trips in their later years, driving the motor home as Nevin rode his bicycle.
Dot is survived by her children: Nevin (Elissa) Webster, Jr.; John (JoLynn) Webster; Deborah (Ron) Wood; Rick (Beth) Webster; and Paul Webster, as well as her sister Linda (Eugene) Litherland; brothers-in-law John Webster and David (Judy) Webster; and sister-in-law Peggy Webster. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Nevin in 2014; sister and her husband Rosemary (Wayne) Olson; sister-in-law and her husband Marion (Paul) White, brother-in-law Robert Webster, sister-in-law Kay Webster.
