Doreen Mckee

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2007 at 82. She was born in London, England on March 9, 1925 to Vera and Frederick O’Connell. She is survived by her husband Howard, who she met when he was stationed in London at U.S. Army-OSS headquarters during World War II. They married on January 11, 1947, in Cleveland. They had 60 years of wondrous marriage, and had four children, Gail (deceased) Susan McKendrick, Ralph (Jean Wong), and Denis (Elizabeth), five grandchildren, Christopher (Christine) and Amy Blunden, Rory (Tara) McKendrick, and Melissa and Sean McKee, and two great grandchildren, Ian and Ava Blunden. Doreen has a sister, Eileen Hookins, who now resides in South Africa, and a brother Denis (Margaret) who preceded Doreen in death. Doreen was devoted to her family, and had a warm and generous spirit that was expressed to all who knew her. She loved music, singing, and dancing. She was talented at sewing, knitting, gardening and boating. Doreen and Howard were long-time members of the Allen Park Presbyterian Church, and an affiliated club, the Koinonia Club, whose members remain close friends with Doreen and Howard.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 22 from noon to 8pm at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Ave., Allen Park. In state from 10 to time of service 11am Wednesday at the Allen Park Presbyterian Church, 7101 Park Ave., Allen Park, followed by a reception at the church.
