Dean M. Gettemy

Age 101, May 10, 2022.  Beloved husband of the late Jean for over 70 years.  Loving father of Nancy (George) Broomell, Barbara Gettemy and Dean Gettemy.  Special grandfather of Chris Broomell and Tracy (John McKenzie) Broomell.

Dean was a husband, father, uncle, son and grandfather. He was a WWII veteran, a church leader at the Allen Park Presbyterian Church, a choir member, a world traveler, and a Sunday School Superintendent.

After WWII, Dean graduated from Penn State University.  He later moved to Detroit and worked for the Railroad Perishable Inspection Agency, eventually retiring from Conrail.

Dean was a member of Kiwanis and the Masonic Lodge.  He volunteered at Greenfield Village and as a Salvation Army bell ringer.

He loved his life and his church.  Dean enjoyed annual family reunions, Camp Wakanda, Merrimates, Masonic, Kiwanis, Elder Hostel trips, Church Choir and Choir Camps.

He enjoyed all aspects of sending and receiving mail and collecting stamps.  Talking about the railroad and feeding the birds were Dean's favorite activities.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Cremation Services will take place and Dean will be interred with his wife Jean at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Michigan
