Chris Samfilippo

Chris M. Samfilippo, of Allen Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles Sr. and Youly Samfilippo, and his sister, JoAnn Rossi.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Samfilippo; daughter and son-in-law, Allyson Samfilippo and Rom Fabreo; grandson, Romy Cristiano Samfilippo Fabreo; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Jr. and Judy Samfilippo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, who adored him.

After his family, Chris’s next love was his students. He was a Collegiate Lecturer in the College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn for 25 years. Chris taught internationally, lecturing on relationship management in Uzbekistan, branding in Libya, and supply chain management in Jordan. He served as the director of the UM-D's International Summer Program in Management—an Italian/American exchange program—and looked forward to his time teaching in Padua, Italy, every year. He was recently named Collegiate Lecturer of the Year.

He earned a BA and MBA from Wayne State University. Early in his career, he spent 10 years at a Detroit-based advertising agency, where he managed the Ford Commercial Truck Account. He authored Principles of Marketing by Cognella Publishing.

Chris is fondly remembered for his giant smile and easy laugh. He loved driving his convertible and playing his guitar. He was over the moon about the arrival of his grandson.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Avenue, in Allen Park, Michigan. The funeral service will be held at Weise Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, at 10 AM.
