Charles William Oaks

July 2, 1933 — March 27, 2018

Age 84, March 27, 2018.  Beloved husband of Betty.  Dear father of Leslie Oaks, William (Amy) Oaks and John Oaks.  Loving grandpa of Ashley, Justin, Jennifer and Jeremy.  Dearest great grandpa of Haylee. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Charles William Oaks known to everyone as Bill was born on July 2, 1933 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. The son of Charles H. and Alberta Oaks, Bill was the youngest of 6 children. Bill graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1952, where he lettered in basketball, tennis, baseball and boxing. After graduation, Bill served his Country in the U.S Army.  He returned from the Army, attended college, got married and started a family. After living in California for a while, they eventually made their home back in Michigan.

While raising a family, Bill continued his love for sports, especially playing and watching golf. He was a talented artist always painting or drawing things for his family. He loved to cook and took pride in always preparing delicious meals for family gatherings. He was often found playing his beloved accordion and was an inspiration for his children and grandchildren to take up music

Later in life Bill kept family the focal point of his life. Caring for some of his aging siblings and helping his children and grandchildren, all with his wife of 58 years by his side.  He was a man of many talents, a kind and gentle soul, and above all, just a pretty cool guy to be around.  He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Per Bill’s request, private family services were held. As a family we are very grateful for all our friends and relatives who have reached out to us during this difficult time.  Your prayers and kind words mean more than you know. Thank You.
