Charles Ashton

June 24, 1926 — August 3, 2022

Charles Howard Ashton was born on June 24, 1926 in Highland Park, Michigan to
Charles James Ashton and Maud Helen Ashton (Burns). He was the oldest of two
children and is predeceased by his sister Charlotte (Farrell) Pengelly.

Immediately after graduating from Highland Park High School, at the age of 17, he
joined the US Air Force and became a pilot. After the war ended, Charles attended
General Motors Institute and from there started working for General Motors,
Cadillac Motor Car Division, where he enjoyed a long and successful career. While
working at Cadillac, Charles met his wife Marge Ashton (Klopfer)(deceased) and
her son Terry Sanders (deceased). Marge joined Charles in his love of flying and
together they both pursued flying for many years. Charles also enjoyed years of
attempting to perfect his golf game and with that endeavor came many traveling
adventures .

In 2018, Charles moved to Scottsdale AZ to escape the Michigan winters and to
enjoy more time with his companion of 20 years, Kathleen Mayne of Scottsdale.

Charles is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert J. Klopfer of Allen Park, MI as well
as nieces, Barbara Souiller and Caryn A Pengelly and nephews : Cary F. Pengelly,
Jerry Klopfer and Larry Klopfer, all of MI.

He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him whether related
or not, friends and family, new and old. All those Ked to him through blood or
love.

Cremation has taken place.

Entombment of cremated remains will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Flat Rock, MI
