Carl Kostoff

March 12, 1938 — May 27, 2018

We celebrate the life of Carl "Pops" Kostoff following his entrance into Heaven on Sunday, May 27, 2018 , after 80 years of life on this earth.  He was the beloved husband of Barbara Kostoff for 57 years and father to their three sons, Kenneth, Scott, Michael and our brother Eric Janson. Father-in-law to Michael, to the late Alicia and Jennifer.  Grandfather to Kristen, Chaise, Hunter, Addisyn and Lexi.  Beloved brother of the late Gloria Georgoff, the late Thomas Georgoff, the late Pete Fuson, and Joanne Fuson.  He was a retired member of the Navy where he served in active duty and the Michigan Nation Guard.  Also a proud Union Stewart for the Teamster Union as a retired driver for the United Parcel Service with 30 years of service.  A proud member of the Robert H. Jones Council for the Knights of Columbus where he was honored Knight of the Year twice.  Carl Kostofff was the most giving, unselfish, caring person we have had the honor to call "Pops."  He always gave his time to help be it with the K of C picnic, Chairman of the MDA drive, and wheel-chair ramp construction.  Our dad was also "weighmaster" for the Lincoln Park Cats Youth Football organization and a member of the Christ the Good Shephard Booster Club where he works the church picnic each year.  He lived each day as a proud soldier with a deep love for his country, his family and all those in need.  Pops was always close to a hammer, tape measure, and saw.  All he needed was an invite and he was ready to build, to help and his payment was simple.  Just a bud light and a bit to eat.  We are also so proud that he was a disabled veteran that battled his diseases since 2000.  He fought the hardest fight to be here for his family and we all know he fought to the end.  He is now in a loving reunion with all our family and friends that have entered heaven before him.  His last project was to build all his family into giving, caring and unselfish people.  Our family will carry on his giving nature as we live our lives in his honor.
Our family is asking in lieu of flowers, that all our loved ones donate to the Chadtough Foundation to help battle childhood cancer.  "Pop's" loved his sports, especially football.  He would want to help those battling cancer to get all the help possible, especially children.  Our family will forever be grateful to the University of Michigan Hospital.  Their team woke our dad up so we can all tell him we loved him and we got to spend one last time living with him.  Pops will be honored to have donations in his name.
