Bruce A. Haberkern

Age 66. Dear brother of Larry (Maryellen) Haberkern. Uncle of Leslie, Emily and Ryan. Great Uncle of Carter.

Bruce, an Allen Park resident, has been an ardent supporter of Downriver arts, culture, recreation and philanthropic organizations. As a teacher in the Allen Park Public Schools, a member of the Allen Park Board of Education and through service as the Allen Park City Treasurer, Bruce brought his energy and creativity to each task.  He found time to serve as President of many Allen Park community boards including: the Chamber of Commerce, Seneca Sports Club, Rotary Club, Exchange Club, Community Film Council, Allen Park Civic Theatre, Allen Park Symphony Orchestra and more recently the Southern Great Symphony Orchestra.

Bruce has many performing credits and has "hit the boards" with the Allen Park Civic Theatre, Wyandotte Civic Theatre and Southgate Community Players. He is an author and playwright and has written the music and lyrics for several musicals including: Alamo (1999) and ROAR (2006). He appeared in "Griffey's Theory."

A memorial service will be held 12:00pm Saturday, November 14 (Gathering from 11:00am) at the Allen Park Presbyterian Church, 7101 Park Avenue, Allen Park.  Inurnment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Allen Park Presbyterian Church.
