Age 87, November 2, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Bill. Dear mother of Leslie Oaks, William (Amy) Oaks and John Oaks. Loving grandma of Ashley, Justin, Jennifer, and Jeremy. Dearest granny of Haylee and Brayden. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Betty was born on December 16, 1933, to John and Mary McNosky. She was born a twin along with her sister Tiny. They grew up in Southwest Detroit with their older sister Maryjane, before settling in Lincoln Park, MI. Growing up in the late 40’s and 50’s, Betty spent most of her time like other teens of that generation, going to sock hops, hanging out in malt shops, listening to music, and dancing with friends. She was always up for a good time, a party, or some type of adventure.
In 1959 she married her husband Bill and they were married for over 58 years until his passing in 2018. After a few years living in California, they made their home back in Michigan where she continued her life as a full-time homemaker. Family was everything to Betty, and she would do anything for them. One of her many sayings were “We’ll figure out a way” she loved a challenge and would always succeed.
Betty was blessed with the gift of ingenuity. She was so clever and inventive. Truly a blessing to our family as she would fix, repair, invent or make some type of contraption to use around the house.
Betty’s biggest joy in life was to see others succeed. She would do anything for anyone. She was a very kind, caring, generous woman who will be missed by all who loved her.
Private family services were held. As a family we are very grateful for all our friends and relatives who have reached out to us during this difficult time. Your prayers and kind words mean more than you know. Thank you
